ISLAMABAD, August 17: In collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) will conduct a Public- Private Dialogue on 30th - 31st August, 2016 to consult with various public and private stakeholders engaged in Microinsurance/Inclusive Insurance.
The MSD aims to build a consensus on the approach to microinsurance development in Pakistan and secure the ownership and commitment of public and private stakeholders. The dialogue will also develop possible business concepts around microinsurance implementation to inform feasible public-private partnerships in the future.
SECP in assistance with GIZ- RFPI (Regulatory Framework Promotion of Pro-Poor Insurance Markets) in Asia has formulated the Strategic Framework for Microinsurance Development in Pakistan (2016-2018). MSD with related public and private stakeholders will be linked with the Microinsurance Development study to consult the results of the scoping mission on strategy and activities; to agree on specific responsibilities of the key stakeholders based on the action plan; to formulate possible business concepts on Microinsurance based on the agreed Pakistan strategy.
Distinguished guests from State Bank of Pakistan, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Planning, Development & Reform, Pakistan Telecommunications Authority and Insurance Association of Pakistan have been specially invited to deliberate on Regulatory Framework and Business Models. SECP expects a large participation of experts from Insurance Sector, Telco’s and Microfinance Banks/Institutions in collaborative sessions and workshops during the course of two days.
